An aspiring Music Educator, Emily is passionate about teaching music to children. Emily has 14 years of musical experience consisting of 7 years of classical piano and 11 years of classical violin and viola. She is an extremely accomplished musician, winning prestigious music competitions such as 1st Place in the 2020 New York Young Virtuoso Competition and has been selected to play in the MSU Orchestra and MSU Opera Pit.
Emily is currently an undergraduate student at Montclair State University where she is pursuing her Bachelor's in Music Education and Teacher Certification, which will allow her to teach Pre-K through 12th grade. In the past, Emily has taught students from ages of 5 to 15 years old and hopes to continue teaching children the power and joys of creating music for the rest of her life.
Emily is continuing her Viola studies at MSU with Honggang Li, a member of the renowned Shanghai Quartet, and Kathryn Lockwood, former member of Pacifica Quartet. She is also studying Alexander Technique with Valerie Van Hoven. Emily hopes to incorporate this technique into her future teachings to help students build stronger posture, better body alignment, and develop more stable fundamentals when playing an instrument.
